Asian QSR Jollibee opens in Manhattan Oct. 27

October 15, 2018

Asian fast-food restaurant Jollibee will open its first Manhattan location, near Times Square and Port Authority, on Oct. 27, offering those in the Big Apple a taste the brand's Chickenjoy marinated, crisp-breaded chicken.

Jollibee customers typically pair the brand's fried chicken with gravy, ham-filled sweet-sauced spaghetti, hot dogs and mango pie. The Manhattan store is the brand's second in New York and 37th in the U.S., according to a press release.

"We are excited to finally open our doors in the heart of bustling Manhattan, which is not just a center of business and finance, but a major cultural and entertainment hub that receives millions of visitors from around the world each year," Jollibee Foods Corporation North America Group President Jose Miñana said in the release. "The diversity of the food culture and the fast pace of living here make it perfect for our new Jollibee store location."

At two of the most recent openings in Canada's Greater Toronto Area, fans traveled from different parts of the country and stood in line for hours to be among the first customers. In celebration of the new store, Jollibee will award free Chickenjoy for a year to the first 40 customers in line. Exclusive Jollibee Funko Pop! figures and other Jollibee collectibles will be up for grabs, too, in celebration of Jollibee's fortieth anniversary.

Jollibee is the flagship brand of Jollibee Foods Corporation, which is the world's largest Asian restaurant company operating in 20 countries, with over 4,200 stores globally. JFC has an 85 percent stake in Smashburger, and recently entered into an agreement with award-winning Chef Rick Bayless to build a Mexican fast-casual restaurant business in the U.S. Jollibee has 1,300 stores worldwide.
