A&W Restaurants is kicking it up a notch to ride out the end of the year with its sriracha cheese curds LTO, featuring the brand's well-loved Wisconsin white cheddar cheese curds with the spice of chili-peppered sriracha to the fried side dish, a news release said.
The variation capitalizes on what the brand said has now become one of its most popular dishes. In fact, over the last eight years, A&W said sales of cheese cards per restaurant have nearly doubled.
"We call it our 'side with a kick' because it has the perfect amount of spice," A&W Vice President of Marketing Sarah Blasi Mueller, said in the release.
In its tests of the spicy curds, overall curd sales grew 15% at A&W. After all, they not only tap into Americans' well-established romance with cheese, but the nation's seemingly infinite thirst for heat and spice. The LTO is available through Dec. 29 or until supplies run out.
