A&W giving 10 customers free floats for year

A&W is gearing up for the upcoming National Root Beer Float Day on Aug. 6 by getting the word out about its Float-a-Friend sweepstakes that will ultimately award a year's worth of the frothy delights to 10 randomly selected winners and their friends, a news release said.

To be eligible for the winnings, consumers nominate someone in their lives who they think is deserving of a free float by 10 p.m. Aug. 6 at https://bit.ly/floatafriend20 or on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, using #FloatAFriend.

Those making nominations must also explain why they are nominating the person, along with a photo of that float-deserving designee. Ten grand prizes in the form of gift checks for 104 regular-sized floats will go to the group chosen so they can partake in the ice cream soda every week for the next year without spending a cent.

A&W is based in Lexington, Kentucky, and has nearly 1,000 stores globally, including 570 in the U.S.
