A&W inks multi-unit deal for KansasProvided

A&W Restaurants has signed a three-unit development deal with father and son team Bud and Stan Keim in Kansas. The first two units will be built in Fairview and Wellsville, Kansas, with the third unit to be determined, according to a press release.

Bud Keim and his father, Stan, have been in the trucking business and have lived in Sabetha, Kansas, their entire lives.

"I grew up here and know the community and what it needs," Bud Keim said in the press release. "I've spoken with many residents that are very excited to have an A&W here as it brings back nostalgic memories. This is a rural area, along with the 8,500 vehicles that travel past Hwy 36 and 75, and we knew it would be a perfect place for it."

"We are fortunate to be growing quickly with operators like Bud and Stan," John Palumbo, A&W senior director of franchise development, said in the release. "We are expanding quickly in Kansas, but still have additional territory available."

This three-unit agreement is part of A&W's plan to award 25 units to franchisees in 2022 and open 12 new locations. A&W is looking to target both new and existing markets including additional Midwest states like Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, but also North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada.

A&W operates more than 600 locations across the country.
