A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. has opened its 100th restaurant in Québec — its fourth urban location in downtown Montréal, located at 1200, Sainte-Catherine St. E. The burger chain plans to expand further across the province, including approximately 10 more openings this year.
"A&W's remarkable growth in Québec undoubtedly stems from a solid development plan, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of local Quebeckers seeking to achieve their business goals with our chain," said Susan Senecal, chief marketing officer.
A&W is the second-largest hamburger chain in Canada behind McDonald's.
Operating the newest location is the Malek-Warda family, including Roger Malek-Warda and his sons, Elie and Johnny. The restaurant features the brand's new urban prototype, with contemporary décor, several seating options and a patio, as well as self-service stations and WiFi.
On Jan. 21, A&W was awarded the Maillon d'or in the Innovation: Product / Concept / Service category by the Conseil québécois de la franchise.
