Baskin-Robbins growing California presence

December 15, 2011

Baskin-Robbins has signed a store development agreement in San Diego with new franchisees Gary and Maria Yarbrough, who plan to open two shops in the Eastlake and Chula Vista areas.

The first location is slated to open by April 2012 in the Eastlake area of Chula Vista, with a second Chula Vista shop following in 2013.

Gary Yarbrough has been a San Diego resident for 31 years. He comes to Baskin-Robbins from McDonald's, where he was director of operations for a franchisee in Southern California. In that position, he supervised 15 restaurants and more than 550 employees.

"Baskin-Robbins has been providing quality ice cream products for more than 60 years, and we are excited to expand our footprint in San Diego with franchisee Gary Yarbrough," said Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of franchising and market planning of parent company Dunkin' Brands Inc. "We're confident Gary will spread the fun and unique flavors of America's Favorite Ice Cream Shop to guests in and around the Chula Vista community."

Baskin-Robbins is seeking more franchisees to develop shops throughout California. Opportunities for development exist in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento, among other cities. More opportunities are also available in the San Diego market.
