Baskin-Robbins puts ice cream on breakfast table

Earlier this week, sister website, Pizza Marketplace reported that a nutritionist found that pizza is better than most cereals as a healthful breakfast food, now Baskin-Robbins is honing in on the early morning hours with a suggestion of ice cream for the day's first meal, as embodied by the brand's new Blueberry Muffin March flavor of the month, a news release said. The muffin-flavored ice cream has blueberry pieces with a blueberry ribbon, taking the traditionally muffin cup-bound breakfast offering into cold new territory. 

Likewise, the brand has returned Milkshake Mixology to the mix on the menu, allowing guests to mix two favorite flavors into one shake, like combining orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream in a Creamsicle shake or world-class chocolate and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream blended in a "Brookie."

"Our menu this month is all about shaking things up, whether it be a spin on breakfast for dessert with our new Blueberry Muffin flavor or giving our guests the chance to create new milkshake flavors no one has ever dreamed of before," Baskin-Robbins Vice President of Marketing Carol Austin, said in the release. "At the same time, we're also ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with our tried and true green favorites Mint Chocolate Chip and Pistachio Almond."  

One other LTO menu addition for the month includes the Italian dessert, affogato, that combines vanilla ice cream with a warm shot of espresso. That high-energy concoction will join the menu March 18, when diners can also try the option at one of the brand's combination stores from 10 a..m. to 2 p.m.

Likewise, on the afternoon of March 3, from 3 to 7 p.m., the stores will provide free samples of a featured Milkshake Mixology flavor combination, followed by a March 31 event offering customers a regular or kids-sized scoop of ice cream for $1.70 or two pre-packaged quarts for $7.99.
