Beautiful Brands International has gone from chicken to donuts. The company, which recently revived Rex's Chicken in the United States, has signed an agreement with Vision Brands to franchise 25 Dixie Cream Donut Company stores in Egypt throughout the next 15 years.
Vision Brands is Egypt-based. The deal is BBI's largest franchise agreement in the country, and the first for Dixie Cream Donut Co., which was founded in 1929.
The first store is scheduled to open in January at the City Stars Complex in Cairo.
Dixie Cream Donuts was bought by Daylight Donut Flour Company in 2005, which then joined with Beautiful Brands in 2009 to franchise and market the brand worldwide.
“Egypt and other parts of this region are embracing American foods such as donuts, more than ever,” said David Rutkauskas, founder, president and CEO of Beautiful Brands International. “I think Dixie Cream has the perfect universal appeal to grow tremendously and become a household name region-wide."
Magdi Rizk, co-owner of Vision Brands, added that the donut market in Egypt is "vastly untapped," and the agreement will bring 400 new jobs to the region.
In addition to Rex's Chicken and Dixie Cream Donut Company, BBI also franchises Camille's Sidewalk Cafe, FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Cafe, Caz's Chowhouse, Greenz Salads, Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse, Blazing Onion Burger Co., and Le Beau Rouleau Crepes and Croissants.
