Blimpie introduces Hoboken Hero sub to mark milestone anniversary

Blimpie continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary with the introduction of the Hoboken Hero, an Italian sub sandwich that includes pepperoni, salami, prosciuttini and provolone. The sub is a limited time offer, available in stores nationwide now until Oct. 5.

According to a news release, the inspiration for the Hoboken Hero comes from Blimpie’s beginnings in Hoboken, N.J., where the first store opened 50 years ago. The Hoboken area has a strong Italian heritage.

"We created the Hoboken Hero to give our fans a taste of the original Blimpie experience," VP of Marketing Steve Evans said in the release. "In 1964, three friends opened our very first store in Hoboken and we want to salute the city and the people who helped us grow to become America’s favorite sub shop."
