Blimpie has introduced its new menu line, "The Lighter Stuff," encouraging healthy, active lifestyles. The menu became available in all participating Blimpie locations June 19.
The Lighter Stuff menu is comprised of six healthy items, all less than 400 calories and 6 grams of fat. Additionally, pro football running back Chris "Beanie" Wells is the face of the new campaign.
“Being a professional athlete, nutritious, wholesome meals are an important part of my daily routine,” Wells said. “Now with The Lighter Stuff menu, Blimpie has made it even easier and tastier for me to stay on point with my health and fitness goals. I love all the options from The Lighter Stuff menu, but my favorite sub is the Deli Trio.”
The following items are featured on The Lighter Stuff menu:
“It’s becoming increasingly important for restaurants to offer healthier menu options, but never at the expense of taste,” said Nola Krieg, R&D chef for Blimpie. “The Lighter Stuff menu delivers with a handful of delicious subs and a salad. We skimped on the calories, but not on the taste!”
This isn't the first effort Blimpie has made to become a healthier dining experience. In early 2009, it partnered with healthydiningfinder.com to list 10 menu items that have been certified as nutritionally sound by Healthy Dining Finder's registered dietitians and nutrition professionals.
