Bloop, a new frozen yogurt concept, is opening its first store in Lynchburg, Va., Jan. 14. This is the first of four locations set to open in the next couple of months.
Bloop's grand opening will include entertainment and giveaways.
Additionally, Bloop will introduce it's "A Cup 4 A Cup" program, which donates one cup of clean drinking water for every cup of yogurt sold in all Bloop stores. The company is working with "charity," a nonprofit organization that brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
"Over 30,000 people die from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions each week — and over 90 percent of those deaths are children," said Daryl Calfee, co-founder of Bloop. "Our mission at Bloop is to help change that by offering a cup of clean drinking water for every cup of yogurt sold. A cup for a cup: it's that simple."
Bloop has three additional stores on tap for early 2012, including another Lynchburg location at Chandler's Station, as well as locations in Charlottesville, Va., and Greensboro, N.C.
Bloop's menu includes low-fat, non-fat, sugar-free, gluten-free and non-dairy frozen yogurt options, all containing live active cultures.
