Boardwalk Burgers & Fries to expand to Middle East

March 1, 2010

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has signed a multiunit franchising deal with Future Kid Entertainment Co. for 50-plus units throughout the Middle East region, starting in Kuwait.

Future Kid Entertainment Co. is the largest company to operate family entertainment centers in the Middle East, including Future Kids family entertainment centers, an aqua park and Cartoon Network park in Kuwait, and Happy Land family entertainment centers in Saudi Arabia.

"I have always thought of Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries as a concept with wide global appeal and international growth has been part of that vision from day one," said David DiFerdinando, Boardwalk's CEO. "We couldn't be happier to partner with Future Kid in Kuwait and the Middle East region. Future Kid currently operates food and beverage locations within their family entertainment centers and parks and will compliment Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries' family friendly atmosphere."

The first two Middle East locations will open late this spring in Kuwait City and Salmiya, Kuwait.

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has had success expanding rapidly in the United States, attracting several industry veterans including the former CEO of Caribou Coffee and former chief operations officer of Jersey Mike's Subs. With a successful partner in place for the Middle East, Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries will continue to expand its global vision to focus on Europe, Asia and the rest of the Americas.
In October, the chain announced a domestic multiunit agreement to bring 50 stores to Georgia.
