Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has inked a master franchise deal with multi-unit restaurant developer Manu Patel. The agreement calls for 40-plus restaurants in Delaware, New Jersey and Philadelphia Metro.
Fransmart is leading the franchise development plans for Boardwalk. This latest agreement will add to the chain’s growing portfolio, which includes locations in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Pennsylvania, California and Florida.
Boardwalk’s expansion within the past year has been exponential, including developments drawn up in Delaware, New Jersey and Michigan, and a total of 200 new restaurants planned nationwide. Additionally, the chain is expanding its footprint overseas.
Patel is a 20-plus-year, multi-unit restaurant owner with both Dunkin Donuts and Subway.
“I knew what I wanted in a new concept – excellent food with strong consumer appeal, solid operations and training, and most importantly a proven unit economic model. I found all of this in Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and more,” Patel said. “I’m thrilled to partner with Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries for my next growth venture; they are the ‘here and now’ of fast food, better quality, better tasting burgers and fresh cut fries.”

In the midst of all of this development and growth, Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has named Kert Gennings as chief operating officer. Gennings brings decades of restaurant experience to the concept, having previously served as President of RGI, a restaurant consulting company, and COO for leading brands in the industry including Chesapeake Bagel Bakery and Jersey Mikes Franchise Company.
