Bojangles' makes list of N.C.'s top private companies
December 2, 2008
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bojangles' Restaurants Inc. has been named as one of North Carolina's top privately held companies, according to Grant Thornton LLP, a leading accounting, tax and business advisory organization.
The annual list published in Business North Carolina magazine recognizes successful companies headquartered in North Carolina. Bojangles' was ranked 40th on this year's list, up from 46th in 2007.
The Grant Thornton NC 100 is compiled annually using information gathered from questionnaires sent to privatelyheld companies across the state. Responses to questions about financial size enable judges to quantitatively evaluate the participants.
Move to fast casual
The first Bojangles' was opened by founders Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas in July 1977 in Charlotte. While Bojangles' continues to expand in its home market of the Carolinas, the company plans to increase its presence with openings slated for Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
The new Bojangles' restaurants reflect a shift toward fast casual dining, blending quick service with a casual dining atmosphere.
