Breakfast twice a day? McDonald’s leads the way

McDonald’s is the favorite brand for those who like to double up on breakfast food.

August 18, 2015

If eating breakfast twice a day is on your menu, McDonald's is likely where you're heading these days.

McDonald’s is the top purchase consideration among consumers who typically eat breakfast twice a day out of all major dining chains that serve breakfast, according to YouGov BrandIndex.

Over the past six months, YouGov BrandIndex interviewed 500 adults age 18 and over who eat breakfast twice a day to determine what brand is most favored.

Forty-one percent of consumers who eat breakfast twice a day consider McDonald’s for their next meal, followed by Subway (34 percent), IHOP (32 percent), Burger King (27 percent) and Starbucks (26 percent).

While McDonald’s is only in the developmental stage in serving breakfast all day, breakfast veterans and newcomers are recently seeing increased purchase consideration among this demo, according to YouGov BrandIndex. Chick-fil-A made the greatest purchase-consideration strides over the past six months, with a 10 percent point improvement. IHOP made the second biggest gain (+7 points), followed by Taco Bell (+6 points, which introduced breakfast one year ago), Caribou Coffee (+5 points) and Waffle House (+4 points).
