Bruster's dips into new markets

August 16, 2019

Bruster's just took its scoops into Provo, Utah when it opens the brand's first store in the state under the ownership of franchisees, Damon and Michelle Wood. But that's just the first in a series of new openings the brand plans this year, according to a news release.

Also on tap for new stores in 2019 are Athens, Georgia, as well as Austin, Texas and Bowie, Maryland. The Provo store is the first-time franchise for the Woods.

"After almost 20 years of teaching World History in high school, and my wife in marketing, we decided to use our degrees to open up a business," Damon Wood said in the release. "For us it was all about the flavors."

The 1,000-square-foot University Parkway store has a patio and lots of windows with mountain views. Beyond this store and those previously mentioned set to open in 2019, Bruster's also has sites under agreement and construction in California, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia. The brand will also open its ninth international store when Guyana introduces a third location next year. The brand now has 200 units in 20 states, Guyana and South Korea.
