Bruster's Real Ice Cream is hosting a grand opening at its 2-month-old 2,000-square-foot store Parkway Place store in Athens, Georgia this Friday through Sunday, making it another addition to the brand's largest state market of Georgia. It will mark the milestone with a ribbon cutting, more than 1,000 giveaways and free samples from franchisee Andrew Rowe, a news release said.
"We are happy to be in this community where we've made so many memories as a family," Rowe said. "Since opening it's been wonderful getting to know everyone, becoming more involved and we invite all to join us at the grand opening."
Located in the same area as University of Georgia, opening a Bruster's was a no-brainer for Rowe and his family, which boasts graduates and current students at the school. Rowe is also adding an Athens tradition and photo opportunity, with Scoops, one of those favorite Georgia bulldogs, in statue form, guarding the front of the store.
"We hope Scoops will become a destination for kids, families and students to gather around as they build memories at Bruster's," Rowe said in the release. "You'll know you've arrived at our store when you see the 'dawg' sporting a Bruster's t-shirt.
The store has also leaned into the company's focus on mentoring with a staff comprised of University of Georgia, University of North Georgia - Oconee Campus and high school students from five local institutions. And to make the whole opening even more celebratory, the brand is also featuring new fall flavors like apple dumpling sundaes with a warm dumpling topped with cinnamon ice cream and warm cinnamon sauce.
