A new form of royalty is beefing up its presence in sub-Saharan Africa. Burger King will add several units to its existing store count in Kenya and at the Ivory Coast and is opening in several new markets in the region, a news release said.

The deal, announced by the brand's owner, Restaurant Brands International, is part of a multi-country development agreement in sub-Saharan Africa with Servair, S.A.and Burger King Europe GmbH to lead the chain's growth in the area.

"We are excited to announce this agreement to accelerate the expansion of the BURGER KING® brand in sub-Saharan Africa, a high-potential consumer market that remains a priority for us as we grow the brand in the region" Burger King President José Cil, said in a news release. "Servair has a tremendous amount of experience in the food service segment and particularly with the Burger King brand, which will serve them well in continuing to expand the brand's presence in the region."

The release did not provide further details about the timeline for construction of the new locations nor their specific locations.
