Burger King franchisee reports year-end revenue up

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Burger King franchisee Carrols Restaurant Group Inc., the parent company of Carrols Corp., has reported a slight increase in revenues for its Burger King stores for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 28, 2008.
 
Comparable restaurant sales were up 1.2 percent at Burger King and up 0.5 percent at its Taco Cabana brand and down 3.6 percent at its Pollo Tropical brand. For the year, comps increased 3.5 percent at Burger King, were essentially flat at Taco Cabana and decreased 1.0 percent at Pollo Tropical.
 
Total revenues for the fourth quarter were $200.8 million, up 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year, with year-end revenues up 3.4 percent to $816.3 million.
 
As of Dec. 28, the company owned and operated a total of 560 restaurants, including 315 Burger King stores. The company will provide additional details regarding its fourth quarter and full year 2008 financial results during its next quarterly conference call, planned for early March 2009.

The company will participate in two upcoming investor conferences this month:
  • Jan. 13, at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time, the company will present at the Cowen & Company 7th Annual Consumer Conference at The Westin Times Square in New York City.
  • Jan. 14 at 11:25 a.m. Eastern time, the company will present at the 11th Annual ICR XChange at The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa in Dana Point, Calif.
