Burger King launches holiday promo for $1 Double Cheeseburger
December 6, 2009
Burger King Corp. is promoting its $1 quarter-pound Double Cheeseburger with a line of cheeky holiday cards designed specifically for the group of recipients often found at the bottom of the gift list. Each of the20 holiday greeting cards comes with a crisp dollar bill for a $1 Double Cheeseburger.
The holiday cards are available at the microsite bkdollarholidays.com for $1 each, while supplies last. Visitors to the site can select cards by adjusting a slide bar on the home page to indicate their relationship with the recipient — from second-tier friend to virtual stranger. Once the special card has been chosen, gift-givers buy the gift and confirm the mailing address. Burger King Corp. then sends the card to the recipient.
Messages available on the holiday cards include:
- "Because an IM greeting wouldn't have been enough. And a fancy gift would've been too much."
- "Because I care deeply about someone who looks kinda like you."
- "I want to share the season with friends like you. Provided it doesn't interfere with my bowl-game TV schedule."
A series of national television commercials begin airing on Dec. 7 and show people, such as Mr. and Mrs. What's-Your-Face, the neighborhood crime watcher, and the not-so-friendly neighbor, receiving the gift of a $1 quarter-pound Double Cheeseburger. In addition, a live commercial during SpikeTV's 2009 Video Game Awards on Dec. 12 and integration with "Lopez Tonight" will feature "BK Dollar Holidays."
