Burger King, McDonald's named as Best Companies for Multicultural Women
May 26, 2010
Working Mother magazine has named Burger King and McDonald's as two of the Best Companies for Multicultural Women for 2010. Among the 23 companies that have remained committed to the policies and programs that support working women of color, the two are the only quick-service brands.
Burger King was credited for its mentoring program, which pairs its newly hired corporate multicultural women with members of the Women's Leadership Forum. Burger King chairman and CEO John Chidsey also holds biannual meetings of the Diversity Action Council.
McDonald's USA was noted for its programs dedicated to their specific advancement of Asian, African-American and Hispanic employees, including a focus on cultural issues. Training includes a career development class for female managers. An annual symposium hosted by the company's Women's Leadership Network helps multicultural women learn how to achieve professional growth and improve their businesses.
