In the wake of its merger with Burger King, Tim Hortons will shed some of its 2,000 corporate employees.

Restaurant Brands International has confirmed it is laying off employees in Tim Hortons headquarters and regional offices in the wake of the Canadian brand's merger with Burger King,according to CBC.
Restaurant Brands International did not say how many employees would be laid off. More than 2,000 people are employed at Tim Hortons' headquarters, regional offices and distribution centers.
"We have had to make some difficult but necessary decisions today as we reorganize our company to position ourselves for the significant growth and opportunities ahead of us," Alexandra Cygal, vice-president of corporate affairs, said in an email statement.
Tim Hortons headquarters will remain in Oakville, Ontario.
