MIAMI — Burger King Holdings Inc. reported its 19th consecutive quarter of worldwide positive comparable sales, the company announced. Global comps were up 3.6 percent for the first quarter ended Sept. 30. U.S. and Canada comps were up 3 percent.
Revenues for the fiscal 2009 first quarter ended Sept. 30 were $674 million, up 12 percent from revenues of $602 million for the same period last year.
Net income for the quarter was $50 million, an increase of 2 percent compared with net income of $49 million for last year's third quarter. Net income was impacted by a $5 million increase in expenses resulting from volatility in foreign currencies and interest rate markets, the company said.
