Burger King resizes value offerings

December 2, 2008

The Boston Herald: Burger King rolled out its "Size It Your Way" initiative, with new, so-called "value" sizes for its soft drinks, french fries and onion rings. The chain simply renamed its sizes and kept the same prices, eliminating its former small and renaming the old "king-size" as large.

For example, a small soft drink on the old menu cost $1.05. The new "value" size, which used to be the medium, is now the small and costs $1.05.

Nutrition and consumer advocates expressed concern that the chain is misleading consumers, who may order their usual size meal but would end up with a bigger portion.

Burger King said it was "simplifying" its sizing and has signs posted at all Burger Kings to help communicate the size changes to customers.
