Burger King selects Starcom as media AOR

Burger King Corp. has named Publicis Groupe's Starcom as its new media agency of record.

In what seems like an entire agency revamp for the quick-service chain since 3G Capital took over, this announcement comes a little more than a month after BK selected mcgarrybowen as its lead AOR over 7-year incumbent Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

According to Mediapost.com, Starcom was given the $300 million media account without a formal review.

Burger King's previous media AOR was WPP's Mindshare. The split was mutual, according to a statement released by Burger King. However, some sources suggest Mindshare and BK have had many conflicts since June. Mindshare has worked with Burger King for seven years.

Starcom's Tapestry unit has handled Burger King's multicultural media planning and purchasing assignment since early 2009.
