Burger King has loaded its royal weapons and fired directly at one of its top competitors — McDonald's. BK, today, launched its flame-grilled, double quarter-pound King Sandwich, which is more than a half-pound of flame-grilled beef, topped with American cheese, onions, pickles and ketchup on a toasted, sesame seed bun, according to a company press release.
In an obvious hit at McDonald's, BK's press materials called consumers' time with "flat-top fried double quarter pound burgers" passe in favor of BK's flame-grilled take on the burger offering.
The burger sells for $5.39, the release said.
