January 4, 2010
Regional chain Burgerville has introduced two new menu offerings featuring Portobello mushrooms: Roasted Portobello Focaccia Sandwich and Panko Portobello Wedges.
The Roasted Portobello Focaccia Sandwich features a garlic- and olive-oil roasted Portobello mushroom cap topped with provolone cheese, caramelized red onions, spring greens and garlic aioli, served on fresh baked, parsley and honey focaccia bread with a sundried tomato spread. The sandwich is available for $4.79 or as a basket for $7.79.
The Panko Portobello Wedges are hand battered and breaded in panko crumbs and fried to a golden brown. They're served with a choice of garlic aioli or Litehouse Ranch dipping sauce. The wedges are available for $2.99 or can be added to a basket for an additional $1.49.
Burgerville, known for locally sourced ingredients, has partnered with Food Alliance certified Yamhill County Mushrooms in Yamhill, Ore., as well as Ostrom Mushrooms in Olympia, Wash., for its Portobello mushrooms. The Roasted Portobello Focaccia Sandwich features Focaccia bread from Schwartz Brother's Bakery in Seattle, Shepherds Grain Flour, Glory Bee Honey from Oregon and fresh parsley grown in Washington.
