Burgerville launches local 'food celebrity' LTO menu

March 2, 2010

Known for its fresh, local and sustainable food, Burgerville is kicking off a new program that places local community members in the spotlight and supports their local charities. To honor those who are making a difference in the local food community, Burgerville will highlight one local "celebrity" every six weeks, during which time a special food item, which the celebrity has collaborated on, will be featured on Burgerville's menu.

Burgerville's first celebrity, Grace Pae, founder of Portland-based Artemis Foods, contributes to the community through her sustainable café and catering company. Portions of the sales of Burgerville's newest offering, the Pickled Pepper Cheeseburger, created by Pae, will go to support Oregon Food Bank programs, which curb hunger in Oregon and in Clark County, Wash.

Burgerville's latest creation, the Pickled Pepper Cheeseburger, featured this week only includes:
  • A quarter-pound beef patty from Country Natural Beef, an Oregon founded co-op of family owned and operated ranches with sustainable certification by the Food Alliance
  • Tillamook Pepper Jack cheese from the Tillamook Creamery
  • Mama Lil's peppers, which are picked, pickled and packed by hand in Yakima Valley, Wash.
  • Smoky aioli made from pimentón, a Spanish Smoked Paprika, with garlic and other spices
  • Toasted Ciabatta bun hand-crafted and baked by Portland French Bakery of Portland, Ore.
The Pickled Pepper Cheeseburger is priced at $4.79 for a sandwich only. The Pickled Pepper Cheeseburger Basket is available for $7.79.

Burgerville also is bringing back its Rosemary Shoestring Potatoes, which are fried crispy, tossed in rosemary-and-garlic-infused olive oil, then dusted with rosemary seasoning.
