Captain D's this week reported a 5.6-percent same-store sales increase in Q3, its 12th consecutive quarter of comparable sales growth.
Franchised restaurants were up 6 percent during the quarter, while company–owned stores posted a 5.2-percent gain.
The results come on the heels of the brand's April 1 grilled menu launch. The menu includes shrimp skewers, wild Alaskan salmon, shrimp scampi, tilapia, chicken breast, white fish and surf and turf.
"Our new grilled menu innovation and store redesign program have our current customers coming back more frequently," CEO Phil Greifeld said in a news release. "They are also spreading the word, and new customers are falling in love with Captain D's."
Development deals
Greifeld said the positive results have led to an aggressive growth plan, adding that Captain D's has introduced a corporate store development plan and has also signed multiunit franchisees.
Among them: Mike Munshi, a Dairy Queen franchisee who owns seven locations in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama, has agreed to build three Captain D's restaurants in the Atlanta market.
Captain D's also signed David and Jamie Yates to a multiunit deal. Within the next three years, the Yates plan to add two Captain D's restaurants in Tallahassee, Florida.
