Captain D's to take part in Great American Dine Out

Captain D's will be one of thousands of restaurants participating in this year's Share Our Strength's Great American Dine Out, a week-long national restaurant event in cities across the United States, the company has announced. Captain D's will donate a portion of the day's total sales from participating restaurants nationwide on Sept. 21 as it joins in the effort to help end childhood hunger in America.
 
The first Great American Dine Out in 2008 raised more than half a million dollars with 4,000 restaurants participating, from independent and family-owned establishments to large chains and restaurant groups. Donations of restaurant sales, direct donations from dining patrons and restaurant suppliers, plus money raised through promotions, helped to make the program a success. Share Our Strength hopes to surpass last year's success with greater consumer and restaurant participation.
 
The Great American Dine Out is sponsored by Sysco, S.Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water, Ecolab, the Food Network, USA Today and the National Restaurant Association.
 
Taco Bueno is another quick-service brand participating in the week-long event, held Sept. 20-26. Taco Bueno is selling $1 donation cards in its stores Sept. 13-26.
