Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s add Texas BBQ Thickburger to menu

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s have introduced the Texas BBQ Thickburger, featuring smoked beef brisket piled on top of a Black Angus beef Thickburger patty.

The burger also includes mesquite BBQ sauce, crispy jalapeno and onion strips and American cheese and is served on the brands’ signature baked buns.

According to a news release, with the launch of the Texas BBQ Thickburger, both chains now offer new sizes aimed at its target "young, hungry guy" demographic. Both chains now offer 1/3-pound and 1/2-pound Thickburger sizes. Hardee’s also offers a 1/4-pound size.

"Texans know their beef and they know their BBQ, so they were the inspiration for our newest ‘meat-on-meat’ burger," CMO Brad Haley said in the release. "The smokiness of the tender beef brisket and the tanginess of the spicy mesquite sauce complement the charbroiled taste of our 100-percent Black Angus beef Thickburger patties. For even more Texas-inspired flavor, we add spicy, crispy jalapeno and onion strips, also known as Texas Toothpicks …"

Texas native and SI model showcasing new product

To celebrate the launch, Texas native and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Hannah Ferguson, will be featured in the new ad campaign, premiering next week.

"Hannah grew up eating great BBQ and lends authentic Texan spirit to the advertising campaign. Along with Hannah, we’re also excited to be reuniting with one of our most iconic Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s advertising stars for an advertising campaign that’s as big as the burger. The Texas BBQ Thickburger ad campaign, created by 72andSunny, will premiere on TV and online July 28.
