Carl's Jr. brings back Portobello Mushroom Six Dollar Burger

CARPINTERIA, Calif. — Carl's Jr. brings fancy back to fast food with the return of the Portobello Mushroom Six Dollar Burger to its menu. The award-winning burger, introduced first in 2005 and again in 2007, will become a permanent menu item at Carl's Jr.
 
The Portobello Mushroom Six Dollar Burger features almost a half-pound of 100 percent Black Angus beef, topped with Portobello mushrooms sautéed in a garlic-butter sauce, Swiss cheese, red onion, whole leaf lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on a seeded bun.
 
During its initial appearance on the Carl's Jr. menu in 2005, The Portobello Mushroom Six Dollar Burger won the product award for excellence from Produce Business Magazine, and was among a handful of menu items profiled by USA Today for a trend story on fast food going gourmet.
 
The burger is available at Carl's Jr. for $4.89 or $7.39 for a combo including fries and a drink. Additionally, the  Portobello mushroom sauce can be added to any of Carl's Jr. burgers for an additional charge. Prices may vary.
 
The burger also will be supported with a new commercial titled"Last Bite."In the ad, created by Mendelsohn Zien Advertisingit, a young hungry guy describes how he eats his burger, rearranging it "just so" to capture the delicious flavor in each bite, including the last.
