Sister QSR chains, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, are launching two LTOs — both with some heat, but one has beef, and the other is a plant-based offering. The sandwiches are available starting today nationally and include the spicy Western bacon cheeseburger and Beyond spicy BBQ cheeseburger, a news release said.
The spicy burger is a kicked-up version of the Western bacon cheeseburger launched at Carl's Jr. in 1982 and then at Hardee's this year. The sandwich features a charbroiled patty, topped with barbecue sauce, jalapenos, onion rings and pepper Jack.
The brands have partnered with plant-based "meat" provider, Beyond Meat, for the Beyond spicy BBQ cheeseburger. This sandwich contains all the items on the aforementioned offering, aside from the beef patty.
Both offerings are available for an unspecified limited time for $5.19 for a single and $7.79 for the combo.
CKE Restaurants, based in Franklin, Tennessee, is the parent company of Hardee's and Carl's Jr. There are approximately 1,500 Carl's Jr. locations and 3,100 Hardee's stores.
