Carl's Jr. hits on sweet/salty trend with new dessert

April 23, 2014

Carl's Jr. has introduced the new Sea Salt & Caramel Shake, featuring the brand's signature hand-scooped vanilla ice cream blended with caramel syrup and topped with sea salt toffee crumbles and whipped cream.

"Since we first introduced Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts in 2005, we've continued to look for the most interesting new flavors we could serve to our guests," CMO Brad Haley said in a news release. "Salted caramel started to emerge very recently as a popular flavor at premium ice cream shops around the country so we were excited to see how it worked in a shake. When we served it to our executive team and our franchisees earlier this year, the consensus was that it was one of the best-tasting shakes they had ever had and I have to agree."

Carl's Jr. is also adding a new Made from Scratch Strawberry Biscuit to its breakfast lineup, with seasonal strawberries in strawberry syrup served on top of the brand's signature buttermilk biscuit and drizzled with white icing.

The new Sea Salt & Caramel Shake is available as a regular shake or malt for $2.99. The new Made from Scratch Strawberry Biscuit is available individually for 99 cents, as a 2-pack for $1.79, or as a small combo with Hash Rounds and choice of drink for $2.49.
