Carl's Jr. introduces new $6 burger

CARPINTERIA, Calif. — Carl's Jr. has announced the addition of the Prime Rib Six Dollar Burger to its menu. Thepremium burger represents the chain's desire to set a new standard forquality fast food as well as redefine value in comparison to similar itemsavailable at sit-down restaurants, according to a press release.
 
The new high-end burger is the latest in the Carl's Jr. string of"meat-as-a-condiment" menu items, which have included the Pastrami Six DollarBurger and the Philly Cheesesteak Six Dollar Burger. The newestmeat-on-meat creation consists of a charbroiled, 100-percentBlack Angus beef patty topped with thinly-sliced prime rib, melted Swisscheese, grilled onions and horseradish sauce all on a toasted Ciabatta roll.
 
"While other chains are hopping onthe value menu bandwagon and trying to lure customers with the smallest,lowest-quality burgers they make, we will keep giving our guests what theyreally crave: big, delicious, premium-quality burgers at a price thatrepresents a real value compared to sit-down restaurants ... and you don't needto leave a tip," said Brad Haley, Carl's Jr. executivevice president of marketing.
 
To promote the burgers, Carl's Jr. created an ad campaign named "Fake Restaurant." The ads capture onhidden camera the true-life experiences of customers who believed they wereeating high-priced burgers at a fancy restaurant — only to find out they werereally enjoying Carl's Jr. Six Dollar Burgers.
