Carl's Jr. re-intros Teriyaki Burger with Audrina Patridge ad

June 23, 2009

CARPINTERIA, Calif., — Carl's Jr. is promoting the re-introduction of its Teriyaki Burger with an ad featuring "The Hills" star Audrina Patridge.

Due to popular customer demand, Carl's Jr. is bringing back its Teriyaki Burger as a permanent menu item. The burger features a charbroiled beef patty, teriyaki glaze, a charbroiled Dole pineapple slice, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayonnaise, all on a seeded bun. The burgers are available in a single, double or Six Dollar version, and sell for a suggested price of $2.89, $3.89 and $4.69, respectively.

The ad, titled "Bikini," features Patridge wearing a gold lamé bikini. She confesses that no matter how many indulgences she gives up during the summer bikini season, she will always make an exception for the Carl's Jr Teriyaki Burger, her "bikini burger."

The ad, created by Los Angeles-based advertising agency Mendelsohn|Zien, features the song "Moneymaker" by Rilo Kiley and was shot on the beach in Malibu, Calif.

Video contest

In order to further promote the burger reintroduction and enhance consumer engagement, Carl's Jr. and its sister chain, Hardee's, have partnered with Break Media to deliver the "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers" contest.

The contest, launching today, will seek out carnivorous beauties nationwide to channel Audrina, Padma, Paris, and other Carl's Jr./Hardee's hotties by showing how they eat the chains' delicious burgers.

Consumers will be able to vote at www.HotChicksEatingBurgers.com for the most engaging video. The winner will appear in a Carl's Jr. or Hardee's marketing campaign and will receive a trip to the Palms Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and $1,000.

Patridge's Teriyaki Burger ad is posted on the Carl's Jr. YouTube channel and Facebook page. Both platforms also will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Patridge.
