Carl's Jr. tests CBD oil-infused burger on ... yes, 4-20

April 17, 2019

The non-high-producing hemp derivative, CBD, is having its day and Carl's Jr. is moving to capitalize on the substance's popularity by putting it in a burger on the day of all things cannabis-related, April 20, a.k.a. 4/20.

The chain said in a news release today it's testing its Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight (for CBD) on April 20 at one chain location in Denver, of course.

The sandwich features two charbroiled beef patties with the brand's Santa Fe Sauce, only in this case the sauce is spiked with hemp-based CBD oil. The burger also includes pickled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese and fries on a premium bun.

"The new Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight ties back to our core strategy of being the first to bring bold and unexpected flavors that are at the forefront of hot restaurant trends to a quick service menu," Carl's Jr. Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing Patty Trevino, said in the release.

Colorado-based Bluebird Botanicals is the supplier for the chain's hemp-derived CBD oil and the test item will be available for $4.20 of course, while supplies last on April 20 at the 4050 Colorado Blvd. store in Denver.
