Carvel looks forward as it celebrates past

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: As Carvel Ice Cream prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary next week, the company hopes it has found the right balance between old and new. Competition in the ice cream category continues to grow, and Carvel has answered by adding products to appeal to a new generation, including blended beverages.
Carvel is focusing its expansion efforts along the East Coast and Northern Georgia — where the chain's headquarters is located — rather than making aggressive moves into new regions. The company also is focusing on repairing franchisee relationships, rebuilding the brand and introducing new items, including candy and frozen take-home baked goods.
