Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs is reopening in Flagstaff, Ariz., Oct. 13, near Northern Arizona University. This Cheba Hut has been temporarily closed since April to undergo internal restructuring.
The grand reopening is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will feature a ranch-chugging contest at 3:30 p.m. Participating "ranch-chugging" customers will be timed drinking 24 ounces of ranch dressing and will compete for cash prizes. Day-of events will also include a BMX exhibition. As the grand finale, riders will jump off a ramp, over a bus and into a pool of Kool-Aid at 4:20 p.m.
Cheba Hut is also discounting menu items on Oct. 13 to solicit canned food donations. For each person who brings a can to the grand opening, Cheba Hut will offer Nugs — the name of its small toasted sub — for $1. Canned food, cash donations from customers and a $1,000 donation from Cheba Hut will benefit Northern Arizona Food Bank.
"Cheba Hut is proud to be part of such a great community," said Dorian Lenz, local franchisee. "We are excited to keep things rolling in Flagstaff."
Lenz owns three Cheba Hut restaurants in the Valley, making the reopening in Flagstaff his fourth location in Arizona.
