Following Checkers and Rally's introduction of a lower cost, more quickly deployed modular restaurant design created by Z Modular, Checkers has partnered with the company to produce more of the units that can be erected in a few days.
After manufacturing the units at its facilities in Birmingham, Alabama; and Killeen, Texas; Z Modular will transport the models to the project site and install them to state and local codes using steel hollow structural sections and its VectorBloc connection system. The quick turnaround will help the chain expand.
"Checkers and Rally's is pursuing an aggressive expansion plan with the goal of adding over 300 locations by 2020," Z Modular Senior Vice President Richard Rozycki, said in the release. "To achieve their goal, they have developed an efficiency-driven design that allows franchisees to recognize the benefits of modular construction — accelerated schedules, better-quality buildings and cost certainty."
Checkers and Rally's Chief Development Officer Jennifer Durham said the partnership will make openings far easier and keep initial investments low for franchisees and operators.
