Dubbed the "Mother Cruncher," Checkers & Rally's is clearly placing the emphasis on crispiness in its new chicken sandwich entry into the chicken sandwich wars that officially started last August with the face-off between Popeyes and Chick-fil-A.
Today, the red-and-white double-drive-thru brands of Checkers & Rally's began serving "Mother Cruncher" chicken sandwiches nationwide, featuring a crunchy breaded and fried all-white chicken breast on a toasted bun with pickles, lettuce, tomato and the company's new Squawk Sauce, a news release said. The sandwich also comes with some additions in the Bacon BBQ Mother Cruncher
"The chicken sandwich has certainly gained popularity in the quick-serve segment in the last year, but Checkers & Rally's has an unparalleled history of taking typical fast-food fare up a notch — and the Mother Cruncher is no exception," said CMO Dwayne Chambers, said in the release. "Our fries have consistently been deemed the most crave-able by the media and best-tasting by our guests, and we fully expect the Mother Cruncher to carry on the tradition and hold the No. 1 spot in the hearts of chicken sandwich lovers across the country."
Tampa, Florida-based Checkers & Rally's Restaurants, Inc., has nearly 900 restaurants nationally. Its chicken sandwich introduction follows those made recently by KFC and Golden Chick in what is shaping up to be a whole new area of competition for fast food restaurants, according to recent data and analysis from Placer.ai.
