Chick-fil-A has introduced its newest menu item, spicy southwest salad, at restaurants nationwide, according to a company press release. The entrée salad includes spicy grilled chicken, zesty roasted corn and black beans. It is served with shredded red cabbage and carrots, grape tomatoes and a blend of Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, and topped with seasoned tortilla strips and chili lime pepitas (pumpkin seeds).
The salad is a reboot of the former southwest chargrilled salad. Two new dressings will also be available to pair with the new salad: creamy salsa dressing and chili lime vinaigrette. The salad contains 260 calories before extra toppings or dressing.
"Our customers asked us for healthy options and bold flavors, so we're excited to add the spicy southwest salad to the menu," said Jon Bridges, CMO of Chick-fil-A. "This new salad is packed with high-quality ingredients and fresh produce with a spicy kick. It's not like anything else on the Chick-fil-A menu, and we think guests are going to love it."
The salad, which was tested in restaurants in Orlando and Houston, is a permanent menu addition and will replace Chick-fil-A's Asian salad. It will be priced comparably with Chick-fil-A's other salad options, starting at $7.05, the release stated.
