The Chick-fil-A opening Thursday in Atlanta had some unusually well-to-do folks camping overnight outside, including the chain’s CEO Dan Cathy. Cathy and about 29 other Atlanta-area chief executives formed a small tent city outside the business on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in southwest Atlanta, according to an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The frosty executive sleepover in this case was for the serious purpose of calling attention to the need to revitalize the city's west side, a passionate focus for Cathy and many of the other CEOs tenting down for the evening. Cox Enterprises CEO Alex Taylor and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms also participated.
The store at the location opened Thursday morning, although there were no reports of any of the executives "storming the door" for free food in the traditional store-opening frenzy.
