For the second consecutive year, Chick-fil-A will award $5 million in grants to 34 Black-led nonprofits working to improve education, homelessness and hunger in communities of color, a news release said. The 2022 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Awards provide grants ranging from $50,000 to $350,000 to organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Those hoping to land some of the money have until May 31 this year to apply.

"There are incredible nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and Canada working to address key issues that disproportionately affect communities of color in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger," Rodney Bullard, Chick-fil-A vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility said in the release. "Through our annual True Inspiration Awards, we are honored to help these organizations, based in the communities we serve, extend their impact, helping to pave the way for greater opportunity and equity."

Last year's 34 True Inspiration Awards recipients spanned two countries, 18 states and 29 cities, which collectively improve life for 230,000 individuals annually.

Applications are open on the Chick-fil-A website, and Chick-fil-A restaurant operators may nominate organizations as well. In September, the brand's loyalty club members may vote for organizations nominated in their areas — an action taken by nearly1 million people last year.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A has more than 2,600 restaurants in 47 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada.
