Chick-fil-A plans to open 102 restaurants in 2013

April 30, 2013

Chick-fil-A opened its latest nontraditional unit this week at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The new restaurant, located at gate 21 on Concourse C, will be operated by HMSHost, the first airport licensee partner for the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A chain. It marks the chain's fifth airport partnership with HMSHost, which includes airport locations in Birmingham, Ala., Cincinnati, Minneapolis and Orlando.

Chick-fil-A first opened in the Atlanta Airport on Concourse A in 1996 and closed the location in 2012 to relocate with HMSHost to Concourse C. A second Chick-fil-A restaurant will open at the airport's Concourse A in the fall.

The new location will offer Chick-fil-A's signature menu, as well as its breakfast menu.

Chick-fil-A plans to open 102 locations across the country in 2013, creating nearly 6,200 new jobs. Chick-fil-A opened its first licensee location in 1992 on Georgia Tech Campus and today has 237 licensed restaurants on college campuses, airports, hospitals, businesses and industrial sites.

"We are thrilled to once again partner with HMSHost to bring Chick-fil-A to the passengers and staff at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport," said Dan T. Cathy, president and COO, Chick-fil-A Inc. "We know our freshly prepared food and excellent service on both sides of the counter have been missed by millions of travelers from all over the country who pass through the airport."
