Three Chick-fil-A markets — in Phoenix, Ariz., Nashville, Tenn., and Philadelphia — are testing a partnership with Thrive Farmers Coffee. According to the Casa Grande Dispatch, a portion of sales from each cup purchased goes toward Thrive's network of farmers in Central America. The model allows those farmers to earn up to 10 times more net profit than coffee sold through traditional channels, the story said.
Thrive provides hot and iced coffees. If the test is successful, Thrive coffees will be sold across the Chick-fil-A system beginning in 2014.
Thrive Farmers Coffee meets the Specialty Coffee Association of America's standards for "specialty grade, artisan coffee."
