Church's Chicken launches $10,000 giveaway, Twitter promotion

April 28, 2009

Church's Chicken has kicked off its ‘Random Acts of Goodness' campaign in which company executives will visit at least 10 cities where they will award a customer with $1,000 to pay bills or pay-it-forward.

To promote the campaign, the company also has announced the launch of the Church's Chicken Twitter site. The company is encouraging consumers to become followers to its Twitter site, adding $1 in a ‘dollar per follower' pledge for up to 10,000 followers within the next 30 days.

Church's president and CEO Harsha V. Agadi launched the campaign in a conference call to share the brand's initiatives. Agadi will select the first city in a Church's market for the first $1,000 giveaway May 14.

Updates, or tweets, on Church's Chicken's Twitter site will give hints about the city's location, with the first hint yesterday revealing that the city is in the Southwest. Church's Chicken has a number of locations in the region, including 97 stores in the Dallas area, 32 in the Phoenix area and 38 in the Los Angeles area.

The launch of the Twitter site is intended to continue to expand the company's 2009 interactive marketing strategy with the incorporation of the brand's emerging social media presence. The Church's Twitter page will be a resource for those looking for the next money giveaway location.

Although the Agadi said the cities would be chosen at random, Church's Twitter followers can offer suggestions on where Church's executives should show up next. Church's also has challenged its customers in a tweet to show "what good is" during this charitable brand initiative and upload their random acts of goodness on its Twitter page (via tweets, video, podcast or photos.

"Church's holds true to its three strategic pillars of value, quality, family/fellowship in the community. Church's Chicken is committed to making a real impact in the lives of our customers," Agadi said. "We have to have to thank our customers. Frankly, cash is best way to appreciate them."
