CKE pushes back cooking oil transition

November 25, 2007

CARPINTERIA, Calif. — CKE Restaurants Inc. has announced that its Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurant chains are expected to complete the transition to zero-trans-fat cooking oil by the end of 2008.

CKE Restaurants originally anticipated the conversion to be completed in its Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants in early 2008. According to a news release, the company determined it needed additional time to complete the rollout to the entire chain.

Canola oil provides an ideal transition to zero trans fat, while not sacrificing the taste and flavor of menu items, the company said in the release.
