CARPINTERIA, Calif. — CKE Restaurants Inc. has announced period 13 same-store sales for the four weeks ended Jan. 28, 2008, for Carl's Jr. and Hardee's as well as fourth-quarter results for the 12 weeks ended on the same date and results for the entire fiscal year.
For Carl's Jr., comps decreased 1.3 percent for the period, increased 1.4 percent for the quarter and increased 0.9 percent for the year. For Hardee's, comps decreased 1.8 percent for the period, increased 0.4 percent for the quarter and increased 2 percent for the year. Blended comps decreased 1.5 percent for the period, increased 0.9 for the quarter and increased 1.5 percent for the year.
For the fourth quarter, revenue from company-operated restaurants was $139.3 million for Carl's Jr. and $120.6 million for Hardee's.
Carl's Jr. continued to feature the Portobello Mushroom Six Dollar Burger during period 13 and also promoted the Huevos Rancheros Breakfast Burrito. Hardee's featured the Philly Cheesesteak Thickburger, the 2 for $3 Bacon Cheddar Double Cheeseburger and Bacon Cheddar Fries. Hardee's also reintroduced the Smoked Sausage Biscuit during the breakfast daypart.
In the next year, CKE plans to add 121 new Carl's Jr. and Hardee's units, including 23 company-owned units, 48 domestic franchised units and 50 international franchised units.
