CKE Restaurants Holdings —which owns Carl's Jr. and Hardee's — has kicked off its eighth annual Stars for Heroes fundraising campaign. It has raised more than $7.5 million since the drive's inception in 2011 by encouraging franchisees to collect donations from customers to support military-centered charities, according to a company press release.
Stars for Heroes will run for four weeks through June 22 and requires simply that customers donate at least a dollar to participate.
"This year, we hope to surpass our annual fundraising goal and invite everyone to honor our men and women in uniform by visiting their local Carl's Jr. or Hardee's restaurant and making a donation to this outstanding cause," CKE CEO Jason Marker, said in the release.
CKE has worked with USA Cares for the past seven years to provide relief for post-9/11 veterans and their families.
"With the help of the CKE Stars for Heroes program, USA Cares is able to provide families facing the threat of hunger, eviction, foreclosure and other hardships with relief and an opportunity to recover," USA Cares CEO Hank Patton, said in the release. "We look forward to this year's campaign and are moved by the generosity of the entire CKE family."
